P@ulE BLOG- Confessions of a Rocker part 3 ‘My first show as a front man’
Dead Original www.deadoriginalmusic.com

I did it, we did it, we played our debut show at The Elbo Room on Dec 4th. Not a bad gig considering we were main support for national act Wayland.
We played 8 original songs, sold some merch and got some free drinks from some cool patrons at the show.
We opened up with Crazy About You which we shot a music video for.

Drummer Paul Wandtke interviews P@ulE (that’s me interviewing my alter ego)
HOW DID IT GO?
I had a blast, I’ve never had so much fun!
WHAT ABOUT DRUMMING?
Dude I love the drums.
Drums are number 1 man in my book! I’ve worked too hard on the drums to just quit, I’ll never quit. If anything, drums are the driving engine when I compose music. I’m not saying I’m the best songwriter it’s just really easy for me to finish material having drums be my first instrument.
It was just a great experience to go on stage and pluck some strings while yelling into a microphone!
WHY SO?
Well, #1……..we played songs that I’ve written the past year or so and #2 It’s always been a secret passion of my mine to be a front man/guitarist. I was just always afraid to pursue it.
SO YOU PLAYED ORIGINALS?
Yes all original, hence the name Dead Original.
SO DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING FROM BEING A FRONT MAN?
Yes! I have learned that it is a lot a lot of work. It’s taxing on the mind, body and spirit. I haven’t been home consistently because I’m often gigging as a drummer so my greatest fear was having a solid line up. My fear was that someone would bail on me for the gig, so I was talking to three guitar players and three bass players all at the same time (Talk about stress teaching all these guys the songs).
Luckily, a guitarist and the bass player from the band Sequia stepped in and committed to do the show two days before the gig.
WHAT ABOUT THE DRUMMER?
His name is Justin Bromley and he kicked ass. He’s my boy! I knew he wouldn’t bail so he was the only drummer I was working with in prep for the show. He’s “in” the band.
ALRIGHT SINCE I PAUL WANDTKE AM THE ALTER EGO OF P@ULE WERE GONNA STOP THIS INTERVIEW AND CONTINUE THE BLOG. COOL?
Sounds good to me bro.
STOP################################################################################################STOP
I seriously had a blast on Dec 4th. I booked the show as a test to see if I’d even be capable rocking an axe and singing whilst working a crowd and managing my band. I was away for 6 months rocking the hit musical Rock of Ages so when I came back we had less than two months to prepare for the show.
Thanks for checking out my third installment of Confessions of a Rocker!
Rock on!

“Hey dudes,
This installment of my Rock of Ages blog contains brief video clips of me rocking Rock of Ages which are taken from my ROA blog 11. I’ve been super busy writing music, practicing vocals/gtr, listening to my favorite records so yeah…………… I didn’t have time to upload new videos.
On top of rocking Rock of Ages, I’m working hard on writng an album for my original music project called Dead Original www.deadoriginalmusic.com
My plans for Dead Original are to release an album and to tour in 2015 to support the record after a signicicant amount of shows in Chicago for 2014. What is Dead Original about? It’s about trying to bridge the gap from the 90’s. I feel there’s been a lot of nameless acts since the 90’s. I’m currently trying to create a project with songs that are recognizable and iconic in instrumentation for the sake of music not chops or education and certainly not pop shit. People wrote shit back in the day about shit, they wrote REAL songs and they played their instruments. What I’ve release online thus far is only a sample of what’s to come. I’ve been working very hard on my craft of vocals and guitar and songwriting. I’ve been praying to the Rock Gods to give me approval and to help me move in the right direction. I need all the help I can get.
I also just got a gig to write drum parts for a Broadway running show, so to say that I’m multi-tasking would be short of words.
